<image:caption>Rapid climate change threatens our planet-- and it’s a dire reality we are all facing. In response to this challenge, corporations have developed sustainability teams to meet ambitious GHG reduction targets. However, these teams are often extremely small, pressed for time, and spread thin as they address a wide array of sustainability issues ranging from equity to renewable deployment to mitigation to water to transportation. Each of these areas of focus have specific challenges that can be overwhelming for a small team to tackle, which often results in creation of products and services that are not user friendly.</image:caption>

<image:title>Work - Sustain Tomorrow - Field Research</image:title>
<image:caption>Corporate sustainability teams need actionable solutions to help them meet ambitious GHG reduction targets. Many companies are designing environmentally conscious products that are not user-friendly. This is cost intensive because companies have to go back to the drawing board after products are released. 18 of 25 companies interviewed did not employ design thinking strategies in their product design. Hands-on workshops serve as powerful teaching tools for skills such as design-thinking and add creative capacity to small sustainability teams.</image:caption>

<image:title>Work - UDL - Problem</image:title>
<image:caption>Elementary school age children and adolescents deal with anxiety and difficult emotions, however, little is done in formal education to teach children how to regulate emotions. Children need more avenues to learn how to regulate their emotions and manage their anxiety (Fontana & Slack, 2012). Mental health is important for the well being of children. When children can self-regulate and learn tools to manage their anxiety, they will be better able to handle various situations (Fontana & Slack, 2012).</image:caption>

<image:title>Work - UDL - Field Research</image:title>
<image:caption>Elementary-school aged children and adolescents experience anxiety and work to process difficult emotions. However, little is done in formal education to teach children how to regulate their emotions and prioritize their mental health. To resolve this, our group found that mindfulness has several benefits for elementary students, including improvements in working memory, attention, academic skills, social skills, emotional regulation, and self-esteem. (Meiklejohn et al, 2012) Our group decided on an interactive mobile application (with optional low-tech downloads) to keep our target audience engaged. Our research found that 9-12 year olds have interests, knowledge, and reasoning skills that are continually developing. Children in this age range learn best through storytelling, active imaginations, and interactive learning. They like to initiate activities and take on responsibilities (Fontana & Slack, 2012) As such, we created the mobile app features to focus on engagement, experiences, and choice.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Informal learning platforms are trending, fostering competition and producing higher likelihood for additional competitors entering the industry at same time. “[The] U.S. alone spent $35.8 billion in 2020 on hardware, software, curriculum resources and networks, representing a more than 25 percent increase over 2019.” This indicates an upward trend that was in effect even before the pandemic and the market is projected to invest up to $285.2 Billion before the end of the decade. Many companies, both new and old will attempt to position themselves to benefit from these investments.</image:caption>

<image:title>Work - Informal Learning Media - Reaching Our Market</image:title>
<image:caption>We will use various marketing strategies to reach our audience. For example, we will go to conferences celebrating diversity such as the LGBTQ+ Conference, the School Leaders of Color Conference. and TFA School Leaders of Color Conference. While we are at these conferences, we will make initial connections with teachers and school leaders interested in incorporating diverse curricula into their schools. We will provide a QR code so that potential customers can join our mailing list and stay in touch after the conference. We will also market our product using social media. We will use platforms such as Tiktok, Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook to develop connections with teachers and advertise ILM Productions. We will use social media to share ILM success stories and also make informational “reel vs. real'' videos in which we will analyze STEM movies and discuss what is real and what is fabricated. In addition, we will pilot our product through a teaching agency like Teach for America or Americorps. This will ensure that young teachers across the country will be trained to use ILM in their classrooms. This will help with word of mouth and spreading our product to different classrooms across the country.</image:caption>
